12. Can I purchase a ticket if I’m a non-resident of BC?
Yes, but there are specific restrictions which must be met. You must be physically in BC when purchasing a ticket. You must also be able to pick up the prize physically in BC, as prizes cannot be mailed out of the province.
No one may purchase a ticket on behalf of another who is not physically present in the province of BC.
13. Are there any restrictions with a resident of BC purchasing a ticket?
A resident of British Columbia may purchase a ticket only if the entire payment transaction takes place while the person is physically in British Columbia and if the ticket or a receipt is issued at that time. When a resident of British Columbia is outside the province of BC, they may not purchase tickets.
No tickets may be purchased by the Board of Directors of YMCA BC or by employees of the Kamloops Region of YMCA BC. Any YMCA BC employees involved with lottery operations or fund development may not purchase tickets. Employees of our official auditors, KPMG LLP, may not purchase tickets.
14. Can I add multiple names to a ticket/value pack?
No, you can only list one individual’s name as the purchaser of the ticket(s)/value pack. In the case of a winning ticket, the prize will be awarded to the purchaser. Do not use a company name, family name, or group name as the purchaser of a ticket.
However, there is also a separate group name option. Anything entered into this field is for information purposes only. If you are listing a group name, it is the responsibility of the purchaser and group members to determine a process for recording the names of all group members involved and distributing the ticket information. Here are some tips:
· Appoint a representative to purchase the ticket and manage the group
· Keep a record of all participants
· Create an agreement form
· Do not include participants under the age of 19
· Clarify what happens if one or more of the group members does not contribute to the draw
· Provide copies of the tickets to all group members
· Use legal names
· Ensure all individuals are residents of BC
In the event an individual ticket, or a ticket from a value pack, is associated with a winning ticket/number, the prize will be awarded to the primary purchaser. It is the responsibility of the primary purchaser to be the group trustee and to distribute winnings between group members. The licensee (Kamloops Y) is not responsible for distributing winnings or resolving disputes between groups members.
